James S. Armstrong, CFRE, Interim Chief Development Officer
Jim Armstrong is a management expert with more than thirty-five years experience gained in politics, business and non-profit agencies. He specializes in fundraising, marketing and planning.
Immediately prior to joining Larkin Street Youth Services as the interim chief development officer, he served as San Francisco State University as their director of development. From 1999 through early 2006, Jim served as vice president and a director of the Children's Hospital & Research Center Foundation, in Oakland, California. Prior to joining Children’s, he held the position of director of development and marketing for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Francisco, at the St. Vincent de Paul Society and at Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory. Jim has also held development positions at the University of San Francisco and the United Way of the Bay Area.
As a consultant he has provided services to a wide range of business and non-profit organizations. Charitable organizations served include the Independent Living Resource Center (SF), St. Ignatius College Prep, the California Maritime Academy Foundation, Marin Ballet Association, Big Brother and Big Sisters, Dell Arte Players and the L.S.B. Leakey Foundation.
Jim and his wife Jane have two college-age sons. The family enjoys sailing and are avid San Francisco Giants fans.
