Announcing our Special Honoree -Daniel Patterson, chef, restaurateur, and food writer
Daniel’s restaurant group, DPG, oversees four locations in the Bay Area: the two Michelin starred Coi (2006) and Alta CA (2013) in San Francisco; Plum Bar + Restaurant (2010) and Haven (2011) in Oakland. In spring 2014, Coi was recognized among the World’s 50 Best Restaurants (#49) and Daniel was awarded “Best Chef: West” by the James Beard Foundation. In 2015, he and LA chef Roy Choi will open the first location of a new type of fast food chain, loco’l.
We will be honoring Daniel for his role as co-founder of the Cooking Project and for his work with Larkin Street and the community.
Paving the Way, now in its thirteenth year, raises critical funds for San Francisco’s most vulnerable homeless and at risk youth ages 12-24. Since 2002, this annual gala has raised over $6.3 million to benefit Larkin Street’s twenty-five housing, education, job assistance, and medical programs. Your generous support of Paving the Way allows you to directly impact the lives of thousands of youth who Larkin Street will serve this year and will help ensure that our homeless and in transition youth have every opportunity to pursue their dreams and a positive future. Three out of four of the youth who complete Larkin Street’s comprehensive programs exit street life.
This elegant evening begins with a cocktail reception and silent auction followed by a gourmet dinner and live auction. This year’s event theme is “Empowering Youth for a Brighter Future”. A few special guests will join in the festivities this year as well so please check back soon for updates and information about exciting Live Auction items.
We invite you to join us as we honor our youth with the Going the Distance Awards, which celebrates their accomplishments and achieving their personal goals, wherever they may be on their path towards self-sufficiency.
