Larkin Street Youth Services depends on the generous contributions of thousands of donors every year. We have collected here some of their stories to celebrate their commitment and inspire the continued generosity of others.
Dana Hermansen’s ongoing passion for Larkin Street’s work with San Francisco’s homeless youth was sparked by a friend’s request to join him in dropping off holiday food to San Francisco nonprofits.
“I soon learned about the great work Larkin Street does when I was invited by friends to the annual Paving the Way gala, and I have been a supporter ever since,” Dana said.
A financial services investor and Moraga, California native, Dana believes philanthropy should start close to home. In 2009, he co-founded Friends of Larkin Street (FOLS), a Bay Area network of professionals who raise awareness and funds for Larkin Street through social media efforts and creative events that benefit Larkin Street.
Dana said he is “really impressed at how willing people are to contribute to Larkin Street in some capacity after they become aware of the problems facing homeless youth in San Francisco, along with the great work the organization does to help with the situation.”
