Volunteer
As a community-based nonprofit organization, Larkin Street Youth Services
(LSYS) depends upon the support and the input of the community for its
success. A vital aspect of that support is the volunteer program.
The energy, skills, creativity, sense of community, and time that volunteers
contribute enables LSYS to provide high quality, responsive services for
youth. Volunteering at LSYS is a mutually supportive role between the
volunteer and the agency. LSYS is committed to matching volunteer
interests and skills with program needs. We offer ongoing training in
order to provide opportunities for learning and growth for our volunteers.
There are many opportunities for you to help out, whether you have a single
afternoon to spend or a weekly or monthly block of time available.
For example, you can be a part of a group of volunteers preparing a
family-style holiday meal for youth. You could reach out directly to young
people on the streets through our Street Outreach Program, informing kids
of the options they have for improving their situations. You could even
become a mentor—a friend--to one single kid youth who needs more than
anything to feel the moral support of a caring adult role model like you.
For information about ways to get involved,
please join us and other potential volunteers at one of our Open House
Volunteer Information Sessions.
